Capt. Zweibahmer Scholarships
The Captain Steven Zweibahmer USAF (RET) Scholarships are offered to local eligible students who are accepted to attend a 4 year, 2 year or vocational educational institution. The scholarships are presented in honor of a man severed as the poet chaplain and was very keen on promoting educational programs. Capt. Zweibahmer was a Vietnam veteran and was a “Mustang” officer meaning he was promoted from the enlisted ranks.
Every year the Post offers two $750 scholarships, which are paid directly to the educational institution upon the recipient presenting evidence of their first year completion and matriculation into they second year.
How to Apply:
How are winners selected.
In order to avoid any suspicion of favoritism, 3 members of the community are chosen to sit on a selection committee. These judges have no affiliation or relationship to any member of the post.
Applications and supporting documents are reviewed by them individually. No member of the Post knows the identity of the committee members except for the Post Quartrrmaeter. The committee members themselves never meet and do not know who the other members are. They are tasked with ranking their choices and presenting their findings to the Post Qusrtermaster as their recommendation for selection.
The Quartermaster presents these recommendations at the next regularly scheduled meeting for a final vote and selection.
