VFW Youth Scholarships

The Captain Steven Zweibahmer USAF (RET) Scholarships honor a veteran who promoted education programs. The scholarship award has been amended to allow for one $1,500 scholarship are awarded annually to a local student attending 4-year, 2-year, or vocational institution.  Funds are to be paid to the school registrar for books and fees, after the first year is completed and matriculation into the second year is confirmed.

Selection Process:

• Three independent community members, unaffiliated with the Post, review applications and supporting documents separately.
• Only the Post Quartermaster knows the committee’s identities; judges do not meet or know each other.
• Each judge ranks candidates and submits recommendations to the Quartermaster, who presents them for final selection at a regular Post meeting.
